Gabriele Nicola Finizio born July 22, 1928 from Liverpool, New York passed away at the age of 88 from a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. His family was by his side at the Loretto Rehabilitation Center, 11th floor, where he received quality, compassionate care.
Gabriele was born in Villa Grande, Italy. As a young man, he served in the Italian Army. He met his wife Marguerite Finizio of 60 years on a Mediterranean cruise. They were married in July 1957. He immigrated to The United States from Italy, fully believing in the American dream. He studied at The State University of New York earning a literacy certification and United States citizenship in 1961.
He had a career at Crouse-Hinds, a company that specializes in electronics. He brought a zest for gardening, language learning, travel, biking, swimming, bocce, bowling, soccer, wine-making, and creating Italian culinary delights for his family and friends.
Gabriele is survived by his wife, Marguerite Finizio; daughters, Dr. Maria Finizio and Linda Dwyer; son Antonio Finizio; son-in-law, Wolfgang Dwyer; grandsons, Kevin Alden, Tony Wallace, and Antonio Finizio; granddaughters, Alyssa Dwyer and Renee Finizio; granddaughters-in-law, Nicole Alden and Catherine Dwyer and great-grandsons James Alden, Liam Alden, and Miles Alden and several nieces and nephews who reside in both Italy and Belgium.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Liverpool on July 11 at 10:00 a.m.
