September 1, 1929 — August 13, 2018

Frederick M. Vail , 88, passed away on Monday after a long illness.

Frederick was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Frederick and Marion Vail.

Fred served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and worked for the Railroad for over 30 years. Fred enjoyed the outdoors and his many trips to the family camp near Cape Vincent.

He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings Donald and Marilyn.

Frederick is survived by his wife Alvina of 65 years, children; James (Ann) Vail, William Vail, Robert (Andrea) Vail, and Darlene (Andrew) Nottingham, grandchildren; Kate, Allison, Tracey, Amie, Kade, and Tyler, sisters; Katherine Balch and Elizabeth Alt.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 17th from 11-1pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals – N. Syracuse, with services at 1pm.

Burial will take place at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
