Frederick A. MacKenzie

Fred A. MacKenzie, 62, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at the VA Medical Center with his loved ones by his side.
Born to the late Frederick C. and Byrle (Tanny) MacKenzie on May 28, 1951 in Syracuse. He attended Henninger High School.
Fred served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany as a Pershing Nuclear Missile Technician. He received his GED while in the US Army and was one of 12 selected for the Pershing Nuclear Missile Program.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 1832, the Ski-Hawks, A.B.A.T.E. of Central New York and Bikers for Bones (Arthritis Foundation).
Fred enjoyed collecting and building trains, fishing, boating and camping. His passion was his motorcycle.
In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his former wife, Janice (Rotella) MacKenzie and sisters, Nancy I. MacKenzie and Joyce MacKenzie Kline.
He is survived by his loving fiancee, Karen Weiss; his daughter, Kelley MacKenzie; his son, Ryan MacKenzie; two grandsons, Marcus and Jordan; three sisters, Janet (Dale) Popenfuss, Arlene (Michael) MacKenzie-Mitchell and Jean (Craig) Jesmer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 4-7PM on Monday at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. A Mass will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church, James St., Syracuse. Burial at Assumption Cemetery.
