Fred Jasper Salisbury
August 1, 2015
Fred was born on August 19, 1921 in St. Johnsville, NY. A WWII Veteran, Fred enjoyed skydiving at the age of 89 and 90. After retiring as a lifelong truck driver for Teamsters Union #317, he continued to drive for several local car dealers. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and Saturday nights playing (and sometimes cheating at) pitch. Fred also looked forward to antagonizing his grandchildren whenever possible. He always had a song, a joke and was sure to have our favorite treats on hand. Fred was the ultimate gentleman, with never a curse word. He believed a woman should look and act like a woman and men should respect them. He liked kids and dogs and Nedrow (?) He didn't care for Irving Ave. Fred had an unmatched sense of humor and the Red Sox were his team. A friend to all, there was always room for one more at the table.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Peggy, daughter Cheri Thomas, grandchildren; Carmella Brown, Sandra (Dennis) Britton, Kathy Jo Hunter, Adam Quintana & Anthony Costa, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Inez Costa, whom he missed deeply everyday as we all do, and as we will miss him.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, with a service to follow.
Fred says, "Girls should look like girls, wear a dress."
