Frank E. Anderson

Frank E. Anderson was the first of seven children born to the union of George Edward Anderson and Julia Mayo Anderson. He was born in Lester, West Virginia on June 17th, 1934.

He received his primary and secondary education in the local area schools of West Virginia and Bedford, Virginia. He then graduated from Bedford Training School at the age of sixteen and attended Bluefield State College in West Virginia; where he received a Bachelor's degree and later a Master's degree from Hardin-Simmons University; in Abilene, Texas. In the late fifties, he joined the United States Air Force and ranked as an Airmen First Class. He served for five years. During his time in the Air Force, he met Cora E. McGee and they were united in marriage in June of 1959.

In the summer of 1966, Frank; his wife Cora and their two daughters; Ruby and Blyess, moved from Abilene, Texas to Syracuse, New York where he continued his post graduate studies at Syracuse University and assumed a position as the first Black Guidance Counselor in the Syracuse City School District at Central Technical High School in the late 1960's.

During the course of his career in the fields of Education, Government and Community; Frank held key positions in Texas, Virginia and Syracuse including: Special Education Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Assistant Principal, Director of Pupil Personnel and Adjunct Professor at Lynchburg College. He held the positions of Director of Field Operations & Director of Administration for P.E.A.C.E Inc. (People's Equal Action and Community Effort, Inc.) and Director of Onondaga County Central Compliance Office – Minority and Women's Business Programs (1981-2002). He subsequently retired in 2002.

Frank and his wife Cora, were faithful members and supporters of their church; Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ for fifty years. He served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He loved God, his church and family.

An avid learner of many subjects and particularly the "Word of God;" following his making a quality decision to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was a fun loving person that had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, building computers and cars, reading, learning and taking on various household remodeling projects. In the 1970's he became a certified pilot and enjoyed flying to local areas in Virginia and New York.

Frank transitioned from this life on April 12th, 2019; at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cora E. Anderson and sister Peggy Anderson Hayden Jones.

Left to cherish his memory and legacy are two daughters; Blyess C. Pulley (Grover), Roswell, GA, and Ruby F. Harlow (Philip), Pittsford, NY; Brothers: Charles Anderson (Abrehet), Syracuse, NY, Andrew M. Anderson (Diane) , Columbus, OH, Thomas P. Anderson, Atlanta, GA, Oliver Anderson (Delois) Montgomery, AL, Sister, Julia Purkett, Detroit MI. Three grandchildren; Philip Harlow, Tishka L. Norflee (Victor), Sabrina R. Harlow. He also leaves behind three great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and other family, friends and relatives.
