Francis M. Waltos, Jr.
Born June 11, 1938, Frank was a life resident of Mattydale. He was a 1955 graduate of St. John the Baptist Academy and attended Le Moyne College and Niagara University.
He worked in the Business Information Systems & Computations section of the heavy military electronics dept. of General Electric Co. for more than 13 years receiving many citations for cost improvement suggestions. He was a sales rep for several local firms and was the primary caregiver of his parents in their later years.
An Air Force Veteran and NY Air National Guardsman he was an aircraft weapons crew chief on the F-86 and A-10 aircraft. He was stationed in Phalsbourg, France during the Berlin crisis. He also served in Tripoli, Libya, North Africa.
Frank was a member of the VFW Post #3146 and a member of American legion Post #1832 both in Mattydale. He was a longtime member of the 174th alumni association and server on its Board of
Directors.
Frank was active in drag racing in the 50's & 60's and was a consistent class winner and won several state championships. He enjoyed playing poker, shooting pool, NY Times crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy. In 2011, Frank was credited with saving the life of one of his neighbors. He was a communicant of St. Margaret's church and a multi-gallon blood donor.
Frank is predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Foertch. He is survived by a niece, Karen Lockwood; nephew, Eric Foertch; and several cousins. He is the great uncle of Adam, Rachel, Peter, and Stephen.
