Frances E. Aust

Frances E. Aust passed away on Tuesday, February 26th in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Frances was born on September 19, 1928 in Burlington, VT, the daughter of Gilbert and Eva (Gravel) Dragoon. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1945 and worked in business until she married Rudolph P. Aust in 1949. She became a homemaker and raised three daughters. After moving to Syracuse, NY in 1961, she became active in the Home Bureau as well as assisting in her daughters' Girl Scout troops, endless school functions, and sewing and knitting for her children and grandchildren. Once the girls were older she returned to business becoming an executive secretary at Crouse Hines retiring in 1990. Following retirement she and Rudy enjoyed travelling spending winters in their winter residence in Florida. Although several times serious illnesses had tried to slow her down, she never let them. She will always be remembered for her kind smile and spirit.
Frances is predeceased by her husband, Rudolph P. Aust, Jr. and her sister, Louise (Dragoon) St. Peter of Burlington, VT. She is survived by her three daughters: Kathleen Aust O'Shea of Gainesville, FL, Janet (Paul) Rosenberg of Pennellville, NY, and Cynthia (Michael) Burdick of Clay, NY; six grandchildren: Master Chief Brian O'Shea, Bridget O'Shea, Dr. Timothy Rosenberg, David Rosenberg, Kimberly Schwartz, Ashlee Burdick; four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Calling hours will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on March 15th from 3:30 – 7:30 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in North Syracuse at 10:00 AM on March 16th with a spring burial in Burlington, VT. Contributions may be made in memory of Frances to St. Rose of Lima Church.
