Florence Lois Mueller Schumacher

Florence L. Schumacher, 84, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Sunday.

Flo was born in Schenectady, NY on July 17, 1932 to the late Carl and Florence Mueller.

She graduated from Scotia High School in 1950, she then continued her education at Columbia Presbyterian University Hospital, where she graduated from the nursing program in 1953. She then received a BSN from Russell Sage College in 1955.

After moving to Syracuse, Flo worked as a substitute school nurse for the North Syracuse Central School District and Liverpool Central School District for many years.
Flo was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Cicero, NY. She held many positions, including, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, visiting deacon, and Director of the Altar Guild. In her more recent years, she enjoyed the OWLS Bible Study Group (Older and Wiser Lutheran Seniors).
Flo loved attending concerts and musical events of all kinds. She and Gary were active in the ESTMIM Theater Pipe Organ Group in Syracuse. Florence and Gary enjoyed traveling together in their retirement. Trips included the continental U.S., Alaska, the Caribbean, and Europe.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Gary B. Schumacher; daughters, Ruth (Rev. Tim) Yeadon of Barkhamsted, CT, Laura (Ernesto Jurado) Thompson of Scott Township, PA; grandchildren, John Yeadon of South Norwalk, CT, Daniel (Jennifer) Yeadon of Oakville, CT; great grandchild, Erich Yeadon; nephews, Paul (Marla) Myrick of Fairfax Station, VA and David Myrick of Tucker, GA and great nieces, Shannon, Lyndsey and Brittany

Visitation will take place Friday from 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. A funeral service will follow. Burial will take place in spring.
