Faith F. Schmeiser
June 5, 1937 — May 31, 2024
Faith F. Schmeiser, formerly from East Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024. She was just shy of turning 87.
She grew up in the Syracuse area with four brothers. She later settled in Cicero and raised five children in the early years before returning to the workforce. She retired as a Typist 1 from Onondaga County Parks and Recreation. She received the 1994 Certificate of Merit Award for Developing the OCP County Passages Newsletter-yes, she loved to write.
Faith loved being on the go-she belonged to the PTA, enjoyed dancing, playing cards, taking bus trips, shopping for anything, watching old movies, spending time with family and friends and cheering for her children and grandchildrens’ sporting events.
She loved animals and was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed learning and teaching others about all the horoscope signs-being a true Gemini Twin herself-she always “knew” what sign a person would be most compatible with! She always admitted she was not the best cook, but she does deserve a 5-star rating on her scalloped potatoes. She had a great sense of humor, sometimes at her own expense, which made her laugh even more.
Faith was very sentimental as she saved most cards given to her from family and friends. She was a caring person and tried her best in life. She was supportive of others and so happy for their achievements.
Faith is predeceased by her twin brother, Paul Farstler, her older brother, Kenneth Guild; nephew, Scott Guild and sister-in-law, Carol Farstler.
She is survived by her five children; daughters, Karen (Dom) Visconti, Deborah Murphy and Carol Schmeiser; sons, Todd Schmeiser and B. Paul Schmeiser; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Oliver (Dianne) Farstler and Gary Farstler; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A special Memorial Service will be held in her honor at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 400 West Yates St., East Syracuse, NY on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 11:30am.
