Evelyn Charette, 81, of Syracuse, passed away Monday. She was born in Maryland, NY to Leona and Frank Hitchman. She attended Oneonta State University receiving her Bachelors of Arts and Syracuse University, completing her Masters in Library Science. She worked for 15 years as a Catalog Librarian in the Syracuse Public Library and for 12 years at St. Mary's School in Minoa. She took time in between jobs to raise her son Edward.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Leo G. Charette, and their son, Edward J. Charette (wife Kristin), and grandson, Chad. She is also survived by her brother Elwood Penner; a sister, Eloise Manning; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, 10AM at St. Rose of Lima Church. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to PACE of CNY.
