Eva D. Thiele

Eva D. Thiele, 87, of Canastota, previously of Minoa passed away April 22, 2024.

Eva was born in Hanover, Germany on May 15,1936 to the late Richard and Margarete Stenglein. They immigrated to the U.S. in 1955.

She enjoyed her time outdoors. Specifically, camping, watching the birds and animals and tending to her garden. She also would forage for mushrooms, using them in her various recipes. She was an avid reader and did a lot of different crafts. She was a long time member of the New apostolic Church, but for travel limitations, later attended church with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 55 years, Karl H. Thiele; daughter, Monica Thiele; brother, Ottmar Stenglein and grandson, Christopher Dixon.

She is survived by her daughter, Cornelia (Carl Lyman) Dixon-Lyman; son, Ralph (Patty) Thiele; brother, Richard (Lori) Stenglein; grandchildren, Jason (Sara) Thiele, Eric (Yvonne) Dixon, Corey (Christie) Dixon, Elijah Dixon, Solomon (Amanda) Dixon and Jennifer (Harry) Letlough; 27 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. And also her childhood, lifelong friend, Hannelora Lebrecht, of Barrie, Canada.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2nd from 10-11 AM at Limestone Fellowship Baptist Church at 4530 Wilcox Place, Jamesville, NY 13078. A service will follow at 11 AM. Burial to take place in Collamer Cemetery, DeWitt following services.
