Ervin E. Durham

Ervin Eugene Durham was born February 7, 1933, in Carthage, NY and passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on April 11, 2025, in Chesterfield, VA.

Ervin is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Burnham Durham; his five children Julie Welch (Robert Welch) of Ninilchik, Alaska, Sharon Ipes (John Duvall) of Sandia Park, NM, Dale Salway (Larry Salway) of Summerset, SD, Ed Durham (Heather Durham) of Budapest, Hungary, and Jerry Durham (Donna Hamilton) of Chesterfield, VA. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Renee Welch Waters, Randy Welch, Alicia McIntyre, Christian Durham, and Eric Salway and eight great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Ruth Burnham, and several nieces and nephews. He was welcomed into heaven by his parents Everett and Aliza Durham, siblings David Durham, Lyle Durham, Merlin Durham and Ethel Ruttan, and his beloved granddaughter Janette Durham as he entered the pearly gates.

Ervin lived a long and successful life as a roofer, farmer, and all-around handyman. He worked hard to provide for his family. He was always willing to help people and spent many hours building the Syracuse Pilgrim Holiness Church sanctuary. He always tried to do the right thing even if it cost him. He was faithful and active in church as a board member and other roles. He lived his life as a committed Christ follower and endeavored to be faithful to God and his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse, NY 13212. A Calling hour will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the service at noon.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Ervin E. Durham to Faith Heritage School, 3740 Midland Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13205.
