Ernest E. Saumier, 90, of Syracuse, passed away surrounded by family on January 10, 2024. Ernest was born in Malone, New York on June 25, 1933 to Wilfred and Mildred Saumier.
Ernest drove taxi for many years. Before that he retired from Crucible Steel and the St. Lawrence Seaway. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1953 to 1955. Ernest was very well known and liked in his neighborhood. In his free time, he enjoyed watching Wrestling, shopping, and sitting at the window and watching over his neighborhood. Previous to his illness, he loved going to family gatherings, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Wife, Kathleen F. (Stickney) Saumier; Father, Wilfred Saumier; Mother, Mildred (Santann) Saumier; Brother, Kenneth Saumier; and Sister, Jeanne Collett.
Ernest is survived by his Three Sons, Kevin (Theresa) Saumier, Steven Saumier and Timothy (Miranda) Saumier; Two Daughters, Brenda Emling and Kathy Saumier; Thirteen Grandchildren; Eleven Great-Grandchildren; Two Great-Great-Grandchildren; and several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Family and friends may call on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals - North Syracuse, 705 N. Main St, Syracuse, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
