Ernest Roosevelt, 87, of Camillus, died peacefully on Saturday evening, Nov 26, 2022 after a brief illness. Ernie was born on February 13, 1935 in Schenectady to John and Alice (Fontaine) Roosevelt. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1953 and attended RPI before entering the apprenticeship program at General Electric in Schenectady. Ernie's wife of 64 years, Patricia (Yamrozy), preceded him in death.
Ernie retired after a long career at GE, where he contributed to programs in Syracuse, Schenectady, Pittsfield, MA, and Greenville, SC. He worked for several years at Michelin Tire's first US manufacturing plant in Greenville.
Ernie was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, boating, and fishing, and he had a lifelong passion for the Yankees. He was a leading advocate for safe snowmobiling in New York, and a fierce supporter of the US military and disabled veterans. Ernie had a gift for any project that required mechanical know-how, advanced carpentry, or skilled woodworking, and his car-restoration and home-addition projects were legendary. He was especially proud to have raised four Eagle Scouts.
