Ernest T. LaPointe, 83, of Brighton Ave, Syracuse died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Mr. LaPoint has been in the Syracuse area for the past 60 years. He was employed at Carrier Corp for 35 years as a Welder Tester before his retirement in 1980. He is an Army Veteran of WWII, a member of AARP & is retired from the Mattydale Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, the former Muriel Gilmour, 1 daughter; Barbara (Frank) Hoffman of Florida, 4 sons; John (Maureen) of TN, Mike (Alaina) of Clay, Paul (Dawn) of Syracuse and Chris (Audrey) of North Syracuse, 1 sister; Dorothy Johnson of Lafayette, 2 brothers, Robert of Syracuse and Richard of Hastings, 18 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and 29 Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10 AM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:30-7:30 at the funeral home, 705 North Main Street. Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
