Eric Will McLean, 77, of Brewerton, passed away March 8, 2020.
Eric was born in Brockville, Ontario on August 26, 1942 to the late Elmer and Jean McLean. He worked for many years as a private investigator. Prior to that he was a police officer with the Towns of Liverpool and Clay. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1970 and was a longtime member of the Cicero American Legion. Eric was a well-loved, well-respected, SAMMY Award- winning local musician who made many significant contributions to the local music scene. He was the founder of the Southern Comfort Band, and a guitarist with Tom Gilbo and the Blue Suedes. He was also involved in other bands such as the Jesse Derringer Show, The Country Squires, Lil' Joe and the Memphis Beat, and the Smokey Mountain River Boys. He was longtime host of the Homegrown Music Radio Program, along with co-host Dan'l Dunn, which aired on TK99 for most of it's run. He was also the host of Rhythymz, a local TV program, showcasing the local music scene. He has performed with artists such as Tammy Wynette, Charlie Daniels, and Eric's longtime mentor and idol, Chet Atkins, just to name a few.
Beyond his music and career, he loved his Green Machine, his wife Bambi, his family and friends, and his beloved pets, "His Girls".
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Woodcock.
He is survived by his wife Bambi McLean; three daughters, Kristin Marie Leone-Collins, Cheryl Cerrone, and Kristie Kavanaugh; a son, Eric McLean, Jr.; brother, Errol (Donna) McLean; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
