Mr. Elmer "Bosco" Lee Cross affectionately known as Bosco of Syracuse passed away on January 2, 2024 at the Syracuse Veterans Medical Center. Elmer was born in Suffolk, Virginia on December 31, 1945 to the late Lloyd and Elsie (Beamon) Cross.
After graduating high school, Elmer joined the U.S. Navy. He was also a Reservist in the U.S. Coast Guard. He went on to work as a driver and retired from the United Parcel Service.
At the time of his death, he was employed by Green Thumb Environmental.
Elmer enjoyed life and doing things that brought him great pleasure. During his free time he enjoyed rebuilding his classic cars, his 1937 Dodge Four Door Sedan and his 1974 Plymouth GTX. As a car enthusiast, he often would lend a helpful hand to his friends as a handy auto mechanic. Elmer also enjoyed rebuilding his Chopper Motorcycle. He once was brave enough to drive his Chopper alone from Syracuse to Suffolk, Va.
Elmer also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. At family gatherings, he was the family Grill Master. He was loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Vanessa Roberts and Jamila Cross (Charlie); granddaughters, Adrianna Holloway and Ashley Roberts of Texas; brother, Charles (Charity) Cross; sisters, Linda Cross Works (Russell), Barbara Cross Taylor (Edmund) and Uncle Willie B. Beamon.
To cherish his memory is Jacqueline Baldwin and her daughters Shatwyna Baldwin Sease and Zacqueline Baldwin. Elmer was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that will forever mourn his memory.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 2-4pm. Funeral services will follow at 4pm. There will be a private burial at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
