Ellen M. Maichak

Ellen M. Maichak, 77, of Syracuse, passed away February 20, 2025. Ellen was born in Watertown, New York on February 22, 1947 to Benjamin and June Maichak. 

 In the early years of her life Ellen was adventurous and her love of people brought her to want to do social work. She started college here in Auburn before finishing he degree in Eureka, California. She loved to travel and after school she moved to Tahiti where she married Michael. After sometime she came back to California and resided in Central Valley. She loved her family, all of her cousins and extended family included. She loved food and bringing everyone together. She spent lot of time with her friends Mary and Kay at the Bernadine and always visited family any chance she got. She enjoyed spending free time crocheting and playing cards. Her children were her pride and joy and she loved her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by father, Benjamin J. Maichak; mother, June L. Freebern.

 She is survived by her daughter, Kimberley Maichak; son, Thomas Szeles; grandchildren, Elijah and Ebenn Maichak, Breanna Daggett, Logan, Maxwell and Elizabeth Szeles; great-grandchild, Audrey; siblings, Wayne (Madeline) Maichak, Frank (Cindy) Freebern, Mark Freebern; and several nieces, nephews and cousins (Diana Smith).

 Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 25th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, where funeral services will follow at 6:00pm.
