Ellen F. Blum, 77, of La Fayette, passed away November 8, 2020. Ellen was born in Syracuse, NY on November 8, 1943 to Paul and Catherine (Conway) Braun. As a child, she was known for being rambunctious and earned the nickname of "Butch" at 3 years of age after walking into a table, receiving a black eye and using foul language. Ellen was a homemaker and worked side by side with her husband running the family farm. In her free time she enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, sewing, crossword puzzles (always in ink), search and find video games. In her younger years, neighbors would enjoy supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association with carnivals that she hosted. Ellen will always be remembered for her "Cooter Stew" at the large family clam bakes.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John F. Blum, a daughter, Deborah; and her brother, Larry Braun;
She is survived by her two daughters, Jo Ann Blum, Laurie (Kevin) Suthard; a son, John (Karen) Blum; four grandchildren, Jesse, Hannah, Riley and Jackson; a brother, Paul (Penny) Braun; and two sisters, Chris (Don) Koagel and Kathleen Braun; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at La Fayette Cemetery in the spring.
