Ella (Bielby) Shaffer

Ella (Bielby) Shaffer, 97, of North Syracuse, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Ella was born in Rome, NY to the late Beatrice (Hook) and Earl Bielby. Ella met Stanford Shaffer in Rome, NY after he returned from his service in the military. They married in August 1947 and later moved to North Syracuse, NY. Both were active participants at North Syracuse Baptist Church while raising their three daughters.

Ella enjoyed ceramics, sewing, crocheting and knitting. In her later years, she was an avid reader, loved doing Word Search. She looked forward to visits or Face Timing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ella was predeceased by her husband, Stanford; her four siblings: Edith, Marion, Barbara and John; and her daughter, Margaret Lyon.

She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Nicastro and Jeanette (Darryl) Davis; grandchildren, Matthew (Jennine), Sara, Jason, Adam, Jessica (Tate), Heather (Stephen) and Benjamin; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family is very appreciative of the care Ella received through the PACE program since 2005. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ella's name may be made to PACE CNY c/o Loretto Foundation at: 1700 E. Brighton, Syracuse, NY 13205 or Lorettocny.org

A celebration of life will take place at The Gathering Place (NSBC) on July 20, 2024 at 10am.
