Elizabeth "Betty" Purdy, 72, of Cicero, died peacefully Tuesday morning May 6, 2014 in the comfort of her home following an extended illness.
Born in Minoa on Jan. 2, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Kathleen Crobar. She was a lifelong resident of the Cicero/ North Syracuse area and was a graduate of North Syracuse High School Class of 1959.
She married Bill Purdy on Oct. 17, 1964.
Betty worked from home for years, providing daycare services to many children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was actively involved in the South Bay Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Betty is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bill Purdy; her sons, Bill Jr. (Darcy), Jeff (Kristin), and Kevin (Karen) Purdy; sister, Kay Gregory (Nancy Tower); brother Floyd (Denise) Crobar; sister-in-law, Sharon (Jim) Flannagan; her grandchildren, Erika, Amanda, Gregory, Aaron, and Jakob and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 5-7PM Fri. at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. Funeral Service 9am Sat., also at the funeral home. Burial at N. Syracuse Cemetery.
