Elda S. Myrick

Elda S. Myrick, 80, passed away on April 6 in Burke, Virginia. Elda was born in Schenectady, New York on July 7, 1930. She grew up near Scotia, New York and attended a brick one room school that had a furnace and indoor plumbing. She passed the eighth grade state regents after seven years. After graduating from Scotia High School, she attended Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island where she received her Secretarial Diploma. Elda was employed by General Electric at the Research Lab outside Schenectady, New York. She lived in several states due to family moves with GE training programs and work assignments. Elda retired from Sears Roebuck where she worked in personnel and sales. She was also a teller at Citizens Bank (formerly ALBANK) for several years. Prior to moving to Alexandria, Virginia, she lived in the North Syracuse/ Liverpool area for over 30 years.
Elda was an ardent supporter of her sons' activities serving first as a Cub Scout Den Mother and later as an active band booster of the Cicero High School Marching Band during her son's high school years. After her retirement from Sears, Elda was a dedicated Contact volunteer. Elda also passionately volunteered with the Empire State Theatre Musical Instrument Museum in Syracuse where she served as President for three years. She attended and was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Liverpool before her move to Alexandria, VA. One of her favorite pastimes was attending Gold's gym classes with other senior citizens. However, Elda will be most remembered for her deep love of her sons, grandchildren, family and friends.
Elda was the daughter of Paul and Bertha Schumacher. Her maternal grandfather's lineage was traced to the Revolutionary War. Her Mother was a member of the Daughters of the Revolution. Elda is survived by her sons, David of Atlanta, GA and Paul and daughter in-law Marla; grandchildren, Shannon, Lindsay and Brittany all of Fairfax Station, VA; and her brother, Gary Schumacher and his wife Florence of North Syracuse, NY.
The family will receive friends on Sunday April 10 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse and funeral service will be held from 11 am to 12 pm on Monday April 11 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 7444 Buckley Road, Liverpool. Interment will be in the Ballston Spa Village Cemetery, Ballston Spa, NY, where her parents are buried.
