Elba Iris (Cortez) Rosa, 71, of Liverpool, NY passed away on Wednesday, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born on December 27, 1943 she attended NYC Public Schools and Brooklyn College before moving to Syracuse in 1970 with her husband and their son. A tireless worker for many years at Birchwood Nursing Home, Liverpool, caring for those unable to care for themselves. She was also a Real Esate Agent for several local firms. A member of the Onondaga Star Chapter 144 of the O.E.S., a Past Matron and Past Grand Officer. She was also a member of the Daughters of The Nile, a Past Queen of Ilderim Temple No. 15 and Supreme Appointee. With her daughters she was active in The Order of Triangles for many years.
Surviving are her husband, Efrain "Frank" Rosa; two daughters; Julie E. Rosa (Orlando, FL), and Christina Elena Rosa (Long Island, NY), and a son, Efrain "Jay" Rosa, one granddaughter Alexis Lynne Rosa and an adopted grandson, Joshua Stanski. Her husband, daughters, granddaughter and Elba's cousin, Gladys Ward, were at her side at time of her passing to the LORD.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. At Elba's request it will be a closed casket with Eastern Star and D.O.N. services at 7pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Kinne Road, DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children- it's all about the children.
