Elaine H. (Parkin) Anderson

December 17, 1924 — April 15, 2020

Elaine H. (Parkin) Anderson, 95, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2020.

She was born in Idamire, PA, to the late William and Amanda Parkin. She married her high school sweetheart, Sam Anderson, and they were blessed with seven children. Elaine was an active member of the North Syracuse community as a charter member of NAVAC; she volunteered at Hospice, the Ronald McDonald House and Meals on Wheels. More recently, she was active in the Greater Syracuse Civic Social Club and in the Parkrose Estates community. Elaine was a devout Christian who served as a Deacon and an Elder in her faith community of Pitcher Hill Church. She believed that "We are here to help one another and to serve the Lord". Elaine loved nothing more than spending time with her children, 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She often reminded her family to count their blessings; she was certainly a blessing to her family, friends and those whose lives she touched. Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Sam, in 2005.

She is survived by her children, W. Sam (Sara) Anderson; Barbara (Larry) Messina; Dave (Carol) Anderson; Jim (Debbie) Anderson; Joe Anderson; Jon(Patti) Anderson and Tom(Meg) Anderson. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Brian Smith, Dr. David Padalino, and the nurses on 4S at Crouse Hospital for their care given to Elaine.

A private funeral service will be held; a memorial service in celebration of her life is planned for a later date.

Contributions in Elaine's memory may be made to NAVAC, 603 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, NY 13212, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
