Edward Leo Sweeting, 88, of Cicero, passed away January 1, 2018.
Edward was born and raised in Hinsdale, New York on July 13, 1929 to the late Myron L. and Gail Sweeting. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict, then was enrolled into Officer's training, he was later stationed in Bamberg, Germany. He returned to the U.S. and continued working for Halls Transit Company in E. Syracuse where he continued to work for 32 years, where he also received his Million Mile Plaque and Gold Watch. He was a part of the Teamsters Union 317.
His hobbies included, snowmobiling, camping, Canada fishing & boating, tinkering in "The Shed", gardening, growing fruit trees, farming and raising animals, wood working, dancing and listening to classical music, rebuilding small engines, 4 wheeling but most of all loved being with his grandchildren.
He touched so many lives, in endless ways, and will be missed by many. It is difficult to let him go but Ed is now at peace and out of pain.
He is predeceased by his brother, Jack Sweeting.
He is survived by his two daughters, Diane (George Amidon) Sweeting, Mary Lou (Jeffrey) Haskins; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom) Atkins, Edward Howard and Richard J. (Heather) Haskins; 2 great grandchildren, Brittany Atkins and Tommy Atkins Jr.; brother, Chuck Sweeting, Elma Lou (Anthony) Horvath; sister-in-law, Ruth Sweeting, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place Thursday, 10 AM – 12 PM, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse, where a funeral service will follow at 12 PM. Burial to take place in North Syracuse Cemetery.
