Edward James McMahon, 76, of Central Square passed away August 15, 2020. He was surrounded by family at home after succumbing to his battle with cancer.
He was born in Syracuse, NY to Edward and Rosemary McMahon. He joined the Navy and was a Seabee with the mobile construction Battalion 6. He served two tours in Vietnam. He was a proud American veteran. He was a hardworking man with a heart of gold who retired from New Venture Gear-UAW 624 after 33 years.
He was known for his sense of humor and one-liners. He enjoyed sports, lotto, music, and his lawn. But what he loved most was his family.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Donna; and his grandchildren, Ella and Evan.
He is survived by his sisters, Patricia Miller, and Roberta McMahon; best friend, Judy McMahon; son, Edward (Crystal) McMahon; daughters, Frances (Christopher) Asmys, and Mary (Jeffrey) Sullivan; and his grandchildren, Isabella, Emily, Edward, Christopher, Colton, Riley, Makayla, Scott, Brayden; great-granddaughter, Grace; and his longtime companion, Punkie.
Ed wanted to offer his sincere thanks and gratitude to the amazing staff at HOA, Dr. Cherny, Dr. Yerkes "St. Nick", the Syracuse VA ICU, the Fulton VA, and Hospice of CNY.
In lieu of flowers Dad would like everyone to thank a veteran, welcome them home, and pray for the other one's that did not come home.
