Edward James Lawton, 81, a 54 year resident of East Syracuse, passed away Saturday at the Oxford State Veterans Home. He was a Marine Corps. veteran of WWII, serving in Guam and Iwo Jima. He was a private first class, rifle marksman and honorably discharged from M.B. Naval Training Center on December 10, 1945. Edward enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino.
He is survived by his son, Edward John; two daughters, Lynn Marie Miller, Patty Louise Dixon; five grandsons, Bobby Frank, E.J., Brian and Christopher; one granddaughter, Lisa and one great grand-daughter, Kaye.
Services will be Wednesday, 7 PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery. Friends may visit with his family Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Please visit newcomerfamily.com to leave a note of condolence.
