Edward J. Collier of Auburn, N.Y, age 84, passed away on May 11th in the presence of his son and daughter, Michael (Julie Berry) Collier of Corning and Jennifer (Barbara) Collier Harris of Fayetteville. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lois and his grandchildren Madelyn Collier (16) and Carson Collier (14).
Edward and his wife also provided a loving and supportive daycare environment for many children of Owasco Village, Ed's hometown, testifying to his unconditional love and kindness for others.
Edward was well known for his love of gardening, woodworking skills, hiking, hunting and fishing. He took some notable trips out west to Montana and Glacier National Park, served as an usher and proud member of Ss. Peter and John's Episcopal church in Auburn, N.Y. and volunteered at the church's soup kitchen for a number of years.
Edward was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp in 1963) and was later employed for 30 years at Nucor/Auburn Steel as a Roll Builder.
In lieu of flowers, the family earnestly requests that donations be made in Edward's name to the Food Bank of CNY in Syacuse or Clearpath for Vets in Chittenango. Calling hours will take place at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Tuesday, May 18th from 11am-12pm. Burial will be at Owasco Rural Cemetery, Skaneateles, NY.
Gathering size within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
