Edna Cecile (Valloze) Chovan passed away June 4, 2023 after a prolonged illness. She was born to the late Giachino (Jack) and Isabelle (Belle) Valloze on July 25, 1939 in Cohoes, NY.
Edna was a graduate of the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York with a 4 year degree in teaching. She worked for NY Telephone and Crouse Hinds, then married Joseph Lawrence Chovan in 1965 and together raised two children Joe and Cherie in North Syracuse. Her cherished family was everything to Edna-- always a devoted wife and loving mother.
Edna enjoyed reading, writing correspondence with family and friends, collecting, and watching movies with her family. Her strong Catholic faith sustained her through the most difficult times.
Edna is predeceased by her parents and her sisters Mary, Marjorie, Grace, Anne and Janice.
Edna is survived by her husband of 58 years Joe, her children Joe (Mary) Chovan of Cazenovia and Cherie (Dominic and his brother Ger) Decicco, her brother John (Jack) and (Judy) Valloze of Ocala, Florida and sister Joyce Valloze of Parker, Colorado and many nieces and nephews. Her vibrant personality, quick wit, love for life and empathetic caring nature endeared her to everyone. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Special thanks to Edna's caregivers, both hospital and home care, who lightened her spirit and enriched her life in her final years.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 9:00am to 10:30am at New Comer in North Syracuse. Following will be a Funeral Mass at 11:00am held at St. Rose of Lima with a burial at North Syracuse Cemetery to follow.
