Edith Naomi Evangeline (Smith) Jones

Edith Naomi Evangeline (Smith) Jones, 89, formerly of Schenectady, passed away October 26, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones. Edith was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 24, 1934 daughter of the late Rev. John and Mildred Smith. Edith retired from State of New York Governor's Office Executive Chambers. She was a member of St. Daniel's Church in Syracuse and was an active member of Amnesty International, Peace Inc. While in Schenectady, she was an active member of the Carmen Fire Dept. Auxilliary, a longtime member of the Soroptimist International; as well as, a member of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by daughters, Leah (Robert, Sr) Thomas, Rachael Thomas, Millicent (George) Bergh; sister, Mildred Mason; brother, Lemuel Smith; sister-in-law, Willietta Richards, along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard H. Jones; two daughters, Ann Conyers, Naomi Loveless; her sister, Ruth Bradwell; her brother, James Richards, and two sons-in-law; James Thomas, Sr., and Learnest Conyers.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday November 2, 2023 at 1pm at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Good Shepherds, 566 Giffords Church Road, Schenectady, NY 12306.
