Dawn Spann, 88, passed away on Tuesday at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by loving family.

Dawn was born in Highland, Chester County, PA the daughter of the late Arthur O. Boyd and Mary Louise Corkle and the sister of her beloved brother, Arthur E. Boyd. She was a home economics teacher for nearly 20 years in the North Syracuse School District and had Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Catawba College and SUNY Oswego.

Dawn enjoyed sewing, knitting and embroidery and was an avid reader. She was a passionate home-maker and decorator of the family ski lodges at Labrador Mountain and Breckenridge, Colorado. She loved the mountains and all that nature had to offer. Until her later years she enjoyed traveling with the family, skiing and hiking in the Adirondacks, New England and the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

Dawn is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Frank G. Spann, sons James, Daniel, Frank J., and Joseph and daughter Sherry Spann Allen, grandchildren James C., Thomas, William, Amelia, Alexander, Katherine, Nicolle, Sedona, Dylan Allen, Glendon Allen, and great-grandchildren Maylee, Aiden, Lilliana, Lucas, Stephen and Alice Allen, along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday 6th May from 12pm – 3pm at Skyline Lodge, Highland Forest Park Road, Fabius, NY 13063.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimers Research Foundation.
