Edith Irene Blair
September 29, 1929 — February 22, 2024
Edith Irene Blair (Sahm), 94 and a native of Clay, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Edith was a 1947 graduate of North Syracuse High School and the Crouse School of Nursing in 1951.
She was employed by Crouse Hospital as an RN and became their Director of Volunteers in 1969. She also served as a past president of the Crouse Nursing alumni and was a nurse at GE plant at Electronics Parkway. She helped numerous families providing services as private duty nurse in the Syracuse area and did volunteer work at Crouse. Edith was a member of the St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Syracuse.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cliff in 2020 and her brother, Robert in 2006 and survived by her sister, Leona Sahm of Liverpool; son, James (Karen) Blair of Pennellville; daughter, Theresa (Dan) Huss of Toledo, Ohio; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.
The family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff at Elderwood for their wonderful care. Contributions may be made to the College of Nursing at Crouse in Edith's name would be greatly appreciated.
