Duane C. Otis, Sr., 75, of West Monroe passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday morning.
He worked for Edgcomb Metals, which later became Macsteel Service Center, for 33 years as a general operating supervisor. Duane was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed car cruising in "Odie's 55 Toy" his 1955 Ford Fairlane, for which he received several trophies at many shows. He was a talented carpenter, always tinkering and woodworking in his garage. He loved to plant his garden every year, he would do anything to be outdoors.
Duane is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elaine Baxter; two sons, Duane Jr. and Darrall; daughter in law, Pam Otis; granddaughters, Stephanie (Brian) Rolfe, and Celeste Otis; grandson, Brandon Otis; great granddaughter, Nicole Hemingway; siblings, Norman (Mickie) Otis, and Shirley Otis; step-sister, Lola Nichols; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Donald B. Otis; and his step mother, Ruth Otis.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. A funeral service will immediately follow.
