Douglas W. Hess, 56, of Liverpool, passed away Thursday at Rosewood Heights after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Canastota, he worked for Penn Detroit Diesel Allison. Douglas was a Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He is predeceased by his daughter, Colleen E. Hess (1978) and his father, Charles W. Hess (1979).
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Martha Murphy Hess; daughters, Jacqueline M. and Eveline E. Hess; son, Eric D. Hess; granddaughter, Lillian N. Hook; mother, E. Betty Hess; sisters, Diane H. Blume, Nancy K. Studebaker; brothers, Charles K., Lee A., and Tracy S. Hess; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday at 7 PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Friends may visit with his family on Monday from 4-7 PM.
