Douglas H. "Doug" Clayton, 78, of North Syracuse died on Wednesday. Mr. Clayton was born in Syracuse and graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School in 1948. He served 4 years in the Air Force during the Korean War. He served on the Berlin Air Lift and many other overseas bases. He retired from Nynex Corp in 1991 after 39 years of service. He was a telephone repairman and member of CWA Local 1123.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Eleanor J. Gleason, his daughter; Barbara Sylvester (Edward) of Nassau, NY, his son: Michael J. Clayton (Cynthia Parody) of North Syracuse, his grandchildren; Michael W., Daniel D., Richard J. Clayton, Timothy E. & Thomas P. Sylvester, a niece and several nephews.
At Mr. Clayton's request, there will be no calling hours. Cremation arrangements are being handled by New Comer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
