Dorothy I. Springer

Dorothy I. Springer, 95 of North Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 7, 2024. She was born on July 1, 1929 in Norfolk, VA, to the late Leander and Della Culpeper. 

She worked at GE for 29 years. She loved bowling, playing bingo, gardening, going to the casino, bird watching, poetry and lottery scratch-offs. 

She is survived by her children, Rosalie Vassar, Priscilla (Phil) LaFluer, Francis J. Springer Jr., Denise (Bojko) Grutka and Dorothy (Jay) Guernsey; grandchildren, Murray III (Ruth), Jason, Connie (Eric), Diane (Brian), Philip (Tracy), Tara, Michael (Valerie), Nathan (Conni), Kristopher (Eneida), Monica (Alvaro), Stefan (Katie), Brian (Nicole), Andrew (Rita), Courtney (Ed) and E.J.; and several great-grandchildren. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Francis J. Springer Sr.; son, Alan R. Springer; daughters-in-law, Janette Springer and Patricia Springer; son-in-law, Rick Grutka; and her granddaughter’s husband, John Dodge. 

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 9-11am. Funeral Services will follow at 11am. To view a livestream of the service Click Here

Burial will take place at Onondaga County Veteran’s Cemetery at 1pm. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice CNY.
