Dorothy A. Flemming of Nedrow passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019 at the age of 85. Dorothy was born on December 13, 1933 in the small coal mining town of Windber, PA. She grew up a coal miners daughter and left Windber upon graduating high school to move to Cleveland, OH. She moved to Syracuse, NY with her sister, Catheryn in 1956 and then met and married the late Henry A. Flemming of Brooklyn, NY. She retired from the Onondaga County Public Library after a long career to take care of Henry.
She is survived by her son, Mark Flemming (Valerie) of Cicero, NY, and was predeceased by son, Thomas of Syracuse. She is also survived by her brother, David Bunk (Violet) of Windber, PA and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy also had many close friends in and around the Nedrow area. She was a commicant of St. James Church of Syracuse.
"Grammy" will always be remebered for her sense of humor, quick smile, and kind acts of friendship.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, September 3rd 10:30-11:30am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd at 12pm at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero with burial to follow in Onondaga County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
