Donna R. Morrissey

Donna Rose (Brock) (Cummings) Morrissey, 75, of Clay, passed away peacefully on Tuesday surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 26, 1938 in Syracuse and was a member & secretary for the former St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She attended Jefferson Elementary and Roosevelt Jr. High Schools. Donna furthered her education through the Manpower Training Program and subsequently held office assistant positions at a law firm, a radio station, Lipe Rollway and lastly at Optogenics which she retired from in 2004. Donna enjoyed various interests : including world travel, boating, fishing, jetskiing, card playing, trips to the horse racetrack, reading, gardening and amusement thrill rides to name a few.
She danced every dance and sang beautifully. She remembered and acknowledged every family members birthday, anniversary and milestone. Donna learned to crochet at a young age and could design her own patterns and one holiday season she gifted 75 pairs of slippers. The day before her passing her family gathered around her to celebrate her life in song, remembrances and Holy Communion. It is with heart felt gratitude that Donna's entire family, wishes to express their appreciation to her daughter Jackie and her immediate family for their devoted caregiving on Donna's behalf. Also to the staff and participants of PACE of CNY and the Alzheimer's Day Program for every consideration.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Frederick Morrissey and their cat, "Precious", 2 daughters: Lynn (Jeffery) Phillips, Jacqueline "Jackie G" Green, 3 stepsons: Rodney (Tracy) Morrissey, Frederick (Rose) Morrissey, William (Tina) Morrissey, 6 stepdaughters: Pamela (Frank) Ross, Debra (Dennis) Carlton, Jean Woods, Sharon Hanmer, Georgia Phillips, Florence (Fernando) Rios, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother, Daniel (Shirley) Brock. Predeceased by her mother and stepfather, Winifred and Bernard Leonard, father Daniel Brock, siblings Gail Riggs, Raymond & Ronald Brock.
Calling hours on Sunday from 1-4pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services will be held on Monday 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
