Donna Mae (Jandreau) Cooper, 77, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at
St. Joseph's Health Hospital, Syracuse, NY on Wednesday morning, May 10, 2023.
She was born on August 8, 1945 in Potsdam, NY to the late Harvey G. and Emeretta M. (Hooper)
Jandreau, Sr.
She was married to Chester "Chet" A. Cooper, Sr., and lived and raised her family in
Cicero, NY.
Her husband preceded her in death in March, 2007.
She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Her family and faith were everything to her, and she loved spending time with and supporting others. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, niece and aunt.
She was a happy homemaker, childcare provider, self-employed housekeeper and nurse's aide. She loved to
cook, loved spending time with family, and enjoyed time away at the family camp for many
years.
Donna is predeceased by her husband; her parents; and her 5 siblings, Elizabeth Ann "Betty"
Jandreau, of Kingston, NY, Shirley Marie Scholl, of WaKeeney, KS, Patricia Mae McHenry, of
Vestal, NY, Emma Mary Gilliland, of Mulberry, FL. and Harvey George Jandreau, Jr., of Venice,
FL.
Donna is survived by her son and caretaker, Chester A. Cooper, Jr.; her daughter, Elaine Ann
(Cooper) Bell (Kenneth Walters Jr.) of Boonville, NY; her two grandsons, Gregory M. Bell, of
Brewerton, NY and Geoffrey T. Bell, of Greenville, SC; her 6 siblings, Barbara Ann (Alfred) Page
Mason of Parishville, NY, James Joseph (Linda) Jandreau of Potsdam, NY, Douglas L. (Dolores)
Jandreau of Nokomis, FL, Mary Etta Jandreau, of Nokomis, FL., Steven Jandreau, of
Ogdensburg, NY and Gerald (Kathy) Jandreau, of Potsdam, NY. She is also survived by many
nieces and nephews and extended family.
In keeping with Donna and the family's wishes, there will be no services at this time. She will be
laid to rest with her husband at a private family burial. Newcomer Cremations Funerals in North
Syracuse is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Donna Cooper, to the St. Joseph's
Health Foundation of Syracuse NY or to a favorite charity of your choice.
