Donald J. Walters Jr.

April 17, 1961 — August 9, 2024

Parish, NY

Donald J. Walters, 63, of Parish, passed away August 9, 2024. Donald was born in Utica, New York on April 17, 1961 to Donald and Theresa Walters.

Don previously owned a bait and tackle shop on the South Shore of Oneida Lake called Oneida Lake Boat and Cottage Rental in Bridgeport, NY, where he made and sold his own tackle. He went on to work for Christopher Community Inc. and retired after 24 years of dedication. He was a man that could do anything that he put his mind to, and was dedicated and devoted to everything that he did. He was an avid SU fan, and spent time working security at the Carrier Dome and the NYS Fair. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time fishing for walleye on Oneida Lake and was a member of the Oneida Lake Association. Don was creative, loved drawing and painting, and had a quick wit and great sense of humor. He loved to bake and made the best apple pie and apple dumplings. His favorite holiday was Christmas, he enjoyed traveling, visiting his family, dancing, and music was an important part of his life. His favorite song, jokingly, was My Way by Frank Sinatra. Most of all he loved his family more than anything in the world. He especially enjoyed having sleep overs and tattoo parties with his grandchildren. He was loved by all and will be missed greatly.

He was preceded in death by Father, Donald J. Walters, Sr.; and Mother, Theresa (Walters) Lewis.

Don is survived by his Wife of 16 years, Jane Walters; Three Sons, James (Amy) Walters, Jason (Krystina) Walters, Chad Walters; Eight grandchildren, Will Bentley, Chloe Walters, Kaelyn Walters, Isabella Walters, Ephraim Walters, Gabriella Walters, Jack Slate, Amiyah Walters; Three Siblings, Andrea (Kevin) Victory, Gary Walters, Russell (Rose) Walters; Two Nieces, Charlene (Christopher) Masten, Tania (Greg) Lyons; Nephew, Anthony Walters; Three Great-Nieces, Natalie Masten, Evelyn Lyons, Stella Lyons; Great-Nephew, Evan Masten; many Cousins and Friends.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

A not-for-profit, Cancer Families Reunited, is in development in memory of Don. Any contributions may be made to this cause and will be held at Carpenter Law Office, Liverpool, NY until 501-C3 Status is obtained.
