Donald W. Barker Sr. 69, of North Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at Rome Medical Center. Born in Watertown, he was a graduate of Adams Center High School. He retired from Strathmore Paint Products with 44 years of service and was a member of the Teamsters Local #317. Donald always had a love for his vehicles, especially his 1929 Chevrolet that allowed him to meet many friends within the CNY Street Rod Club, with the highlight being a participant in the Syracuse Nationals. He was also an avid bowler and snowmobiler. He is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Dorothy (Norfolk) Barker.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former, JoAnn L. Marzullo; three sons, Donald W. (Tammy) Barker Jr., Jeffrey A. (Michelle) Barker and Thomas S. (Kellie) Barker; three daughters, Linda J. (Brett VanSlyke) Barker, Mary Anne (Kevin) Zurawski and Terry Lynn (Jeffry) Larmer; eleven grandchildren; his uncle and aunt, Robert and Eleanor Barker; a brother, Robert J. (Corinne) Barker; a sister, Mary Ellen Heaphy; several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday, 9:15 AM at New Comer Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Rose of Lima Church at 10AM. Burial will follow at the North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 3-6 PM at the funeral home.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Matthews House. 43 Metcalf St., Auburn, NY 13021.
