Donald T. Steckel, 78, of Bridgeport died Saturday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Allentown, Pa. he was the son of the late Milton T.A. and Theresa Steckel. He retired from Carrier Corp in 1994 following 40 years of service as a machine operator. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the Young at Heart Club. Don was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was predeceased by his first wife Marie in 1993.
Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Agatha Walters Besaw Steckel; two brothers, Milton P. (Bernadette) of Camillus and Joseph A. (Patricia) Steckel of Kirkville; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Bridgeport. Burial will be in Bridgeport Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
