Donald N. Parkhurst
February 22, 1940 — January 16, 2017
Donald N. Parkhurst, 76 of Brewerton, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on January 16, 2017 after a short illness.
Don was born in Canastota, NY to Donald and Florence Parkhurst.
Don grew up in Canastota and as a young boy, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he earned the Order of the Arrow. The Order was created to honor Scouts that best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law.
Don spent 23 years in the Canastota Fire Department including a couple of years as Chief and then joined the Old Timers Organization for retired Canastota Firemen. Don was a maintenance worker at Pass &Seymour, Legrand in Solvay for 32 years before retiring in 2002.
He is survived by his love, best friend and wife, Judy and their beloved blended family; Deborah (Patrick) Murphy, Donald Parkhurst, Jr., Troy (Tiffney) Gates, Daniel Gates, Sandy (Ed) Price; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Ponto and many loved friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Don's wishes, the wake will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to: Canastota Fire Department, 127 E. Center St., PO Box 81, Canastota, NY 13032.
