Donald George Norton, 69, of Clay, peacefully passed away Monday at home after a long illness. He was born in Troy, NY, on August 15, 1937 to James & Helen (Luce) Norton, who predeceased him. He resided in Albany, NY where he graduated from St. Theresa of Avila & Vincentian Institute. Don attended Siena College, Hudson Valley and University College. He moved to the Syracuse area in 1962. He was a licensed NYS Insurance Broker and also worked in auto finance & credit fields. His favorite pastimes were hunting and driving his Corvette.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marian Gargiul Norton, sisters; Janice (Frank) Woods, Carol (Al) Lawrence, sister-in-laws and brother-in-law; Donald and Lorraine Gargiul, Bella Gargiul, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, his cherished friends, Marcelo, Alex and Johnny Mango and his wonderful caregivers, Ayana, Karen & Amanda.
In keeping with Don's wishes, all services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
In his memory, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St. Liverpool, NY 13088 or Food Bank of CNY, 6970 Schuyler Rd., East Syracuse, NY 13057-9791.
