Donald Richard Neimeyer, 95, of Syracuse, passed away December 18, 2028. Donald was born in Albany, New York on February 9, 1928 to Louis and Anne Neimeyer. He attended the New York School for the Deaf in White Plains, New York, and retired from the Tobin Packing Company in Colonie, NY and the United States Postal Service in Albany, NY. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and played golf until the age of 89. He was a lifelong servant and supporter of the Albany area Deaf community, serving on multiple boards and as President of the Capital District Deaf Center, member of the Empire State Association of the Deaf and organizing many state, local and national bowling tournaments. He was also one of the first people in the area to service and sell teletypes so that members of the Deaf community could have access to communication. Upon moving to the Syracuse area, Donald became an ardent Syracuse Orange fan, supporting their football and basketball programs.
Donald was preceded in death by a daughter, Nora Neimeyer; two sons, Ronald Neimeyer and Dennis Neimeyer; his first wife Marion Neimeyer (nee Smith); and brother, Kenneth (Beverly) Neimeyer.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Georgianne Neimeyer; son, Dale (Cathleen) Neimeyer and their three children Emily, Logan, and Sean; son, John Susice and his four children, Derrick Susice, Devon Susice, Kara Buehler, and Samantha Susice; daughter, Amy (Kenneth) Irving and their two children, Kolby and Jacob.
A private ceremony of remembrance will be held at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donald's memory to the New York School for the Deaf Foundation, Attn: Arlene Rice 555 Knollwood Road White Plains, NY 10603.
