Donald J. Jackson, 81, of Cicero, NY, performed his final "Irish goodbye" on July 3, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 21, 1942, in Syracuse, NY, Donald fulfilled his dream of living on the water, raising his four boys alongside his wife Patricia on Oneida Lake, where they all enjoyed many years of fishing, boating, and relaxing by the water together. Don also enjoyed hunting and attending his grandchildren's many activities. He traveled to Ireland and Jamaica with Patty, and the entire family also enjoyed vacationing together in Virginia Beach & the Outer Banks.
Donald retired as a service manager from Pitney Bowes after more than 30 years. He served in the United States Coast Guard, and later loved volunteering as a driver at the VA Syracuse Medical Center for many years.
Donald is survived by his wife, Patricia, and their sons: Jason (Kim), Brian (Lisa), Mark (Kristen), and Mike (Kristen). He also leaves behind his brother Jim, sister Nancy Bills, and his cherished grandchildren: Kaitlyn Manno (Dom), Taylor Brant-Maracle (Jesse), Madelyn, Anna, Trevor, Colin, Kylee, and Harper, as well as three great-grandchildren, Kane, Berklee, and Blakely. He was preceded in death by his brother, William (Bill) Jackson.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 4-7 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Syracuse VA Medical Center.
