Don Hazelmyer, 64, of Cicero, unexpectedly passed away October 28, 2021. He was born in Syracuse on June 10th 1957 to Benjamin and Nona Hazelmyer. Don owned his own busines, Dynamic Hybrids Inc. for over 25 years. Prior to that he worked at General Electric.
Don was a passionate man who loved his family and was always there when you needed him. He and his wife Karen were happily married for 41 years. He was the proud father of two sons, Alex and Shaun. He always had a dog and a cat, and loved them all.
He was a man of many hobbies that included flying, scuba diving, kayaking, motorcycling, golfing, boating, rooting for New York sports teams, and fixing things that always seemed to need to be fixed. He loved going to his camp on the Oneida River, where he was able to enjoy many of these activities with his family. If you couldn't find him there, he was most likely in his garage tinkering with one of his other "toys".
Don was proud to be the Chief of the Volunteers in Policing Services of the Cicero Police Department. He was also a member of the Free Masons, and The Quiet Birdmen.
Don is survived by his wife Karen, his sons Alex and Shaun (Sarah); father and mother-in-law Fred and Shirley Gram; brother-in-law Kevin Gram; niece Jackie Perra and her family; his cousin Noni Burgen; and his beloved dog Micky.
Family and friends may gather from 10am-12pm on Thursday November 4th at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, North Syracuse. Burial will follow immediately after. Please note, masks will be required at the services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory can be made to the SPCA.
