Diane Lynn Mertens passed away April 17, 2019, at the age of 72.
She was born May 22, 1946 in Syracuse, NY. She was the daughter of the late Clifton (1995) and Eleanor Van Tassel (2005).
She graduated from Phoenix Central Schools in 1964. She graduated from SUNY-Oswego in 1968 with a degree in education. She worked at Moreland & Sons Signs in Syracuse for over 20 years and at Brighton Hill Chiropractic in Syracuse for over 30 years.
Diane is predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Mertens, who passed in 1996.
She is survived by a son, Mark Goodwin, a daughter, Brittany Mertens, a sister, Carol Sielawa and a brother, Robert (Gloria) Van Tassel. Diane also leaves behind two nephews, one niece, four great-nephews and one great-niece, as well many other family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-3pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 North Main St., N. Syracuse.
