Desiderio Paiz

Desiderio "Jerry" Paiz, 90, passed away peacefully at on April 18, 2024. He was born in Raton, New Mexico on October 20, 1933 to his parents, Andres and Celia Martinez Paiz, who passed away when Jerry was just a small child. He was raised by his sister Cimmie and moved to Syracuse during the war in the 1940s where he met the love of his life and wife of 70 years, Anna May Paiz. Jerry graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1955. He was the proud owner and operator of Sunshine Heating and Air Conditioning.

Jerry is survived by his six children, Rebecca (Kevin) Van Ness, Belinda (Patrick) McElroy, Michael (Brenda) Paiz, Sandra (Robert) Smith, Gerald (Joyce) Paiz, and David (Amy) Paiz. Jerry was blessed with 20 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister, Susie Sandovol of Trinidad, CO; and sister in law, Elma Paiz of Raton, NM.

Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 4-7PM at New Comer Cremations and Funerals. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following morning at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Church, Cicero. Burial will be made in Pine Plains Cemetery.
