Dervon Jack Sigafoos

It is with great sadness that the family of Jack Sigafoos announces his sudden passing on July 8, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Jack was born on July 29, 1948 in Easton, PA to the late Dervon and Marian (Woodring) Sigafoos. He graduated from Easton Area High School in 1967 where he was on the swim and baseball teams. He was a decorated United States Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart along with other medals and awards.

After 30+ years of service, Jack retired from Onondaga County Dept. of Water Environment Protection to enjoy the things in life that brought him joy and happiness. He loved his family dearly, was an avid golfer, enjoyed country western dancing, and could be found rooting for the SU basketball teams. He was always eager to lend a hand with the little leaguers and his grandson's biggest fan. Those who knew Jack, will remember him for his passion for life, ability to talk to others and his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Irene; daughters, Tara (James) Duncan, Liza (Dan) Mills; step daughters, Michele (Roger) Hicks, Yvonne (Scott) Arnold; brother, Daniel (Deborah) Sigafoos; sister, Janet Kasza; sister-in-law, Paula Sigafoos; grandchildren, Robert, Kaylyn, Gentry, Garrett and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was predeceased by his brother, Dale, granddaughter, Kylie, and brother in-law, Barry.

Calling hours will be Thursday 5-8PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse with a service to follow at 8PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Military Order of the Purple Heart or the Veteran's Administration.
